Carlos Ruvio’s family’s 3rd generation estate- Casa De Darei- is 370 acres of dedicated natural reserve, forests, grazing, apple orchards, and most importantly for wine drinkers- 17 acres of certified organic grape vines! Focusing on the indigenous grape varieties of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro, and Jaen,
Casa De Darei produces a mere
3,750 cases of wine annually!
Astobiza is a young small, family owned and operated winery in the Txakoli de Alava D.O. nestled in the rolling hills of Basque country. This area is known for the Hondarrabi Beltza, Hondarrabi Zuri, and Petit Courbu grapes. This is another wonderful organically farmed estate, where the grapes are harvested by hand, fermentation is in stainless steel for a more pure taste of their beloved grapes, and bottling is done without added CO2- producing merely 6,000 cases of these wines annually!
